At Spain Park, Aberdeen Under 15s School team managed to get their campaign off to a great start thanks to a 4-3 win over Fife with a competitive game in store.
Josh Milne grabbed a hat-trick and Ryan Silver also added to the scoring. Fife managed to crawl their way back into the game on three occasions and made it nervy especially towards the end.
The previous day, Tynecastle and Albion faced off against each other in a re-match of last years Scottish Cup final and Aberdeen coach Alan Daglish had a bit of fear before the game incase the Albion based players in his squad were tired.
Josh Milne got the first goal of the game thanks to a great corner from Dyce player Ryan Silvers and Milne headed home.
St Johnstone forward Milne then added another after receiving a great ball before producing a cheeky lob over the Fife keeper.
Fife then pulled one back when their midfielder hit a low shot into the bottom right hand corner by Cameron Jarvie.
The comeback was complete by Fife before the interval when a great ball came in which was met by a visiting defender whose effort gave Jarvie no chance.
Half Time: Aberdeen 2-2 Fife
Aberdeen took the lead again at the start of the second half after he took a great touch before and took a turn before his brilliant effort found the bottom right hand corner.
The hosts looked to have the game wrapped up when a lovely ball by Craig Armstrong found its way to Ryan Silvers who produced a cool finish.
Fife did make it an interesting ending though by reducing the leeway thanks to number four getting his 2nd of the game placing it into the bottom right hand corner.
Alan Daglish was delighted with his sides performance saying “We just shaved it and the boys certainly looked up for it."
