This week Rudi Brown signed for Forfar Athletic under nineteen’s, making him the fifteenth youth player from the Blairgowrie, Alyth and Coupar Angus area between the ages of eleven and sixteen to sign for a senior club.
A lot of local talent has sprung up recently in this area, including Rudi Brown. Fourteen other players have signed for senior teams including Dundee United, Dundee and St. Johnstone. This is a great achievement for the area, and encouraging for the other youth players in the community. There are many talented coaches in the area which will surely continue the streak of players moving on to senior teams.
Rudi Brown has been signed after a three week trial at the team, saying “I thought it was going to be longer (the trials) but now I am here.”
Brown has left Letham Sky Blues after only playing for 3 months with the team as a striker. Brown moved to Letham Sky Blues at the end of last season as his previous team Coupar Angus folded. Brown is a great player and will surely be missed at Letham Sky Blues, but it is a great achievement having only been with the team for a short while.
It’s an exciting new step for Brown, taking on a new challenge playing at a completely new level. “It feels good (Signing for Forfar Athletic), it’s good to move up from Sunday league.” Rudi Brown looks to be a promising striker, having had a great season so far. But it is a different level now, and will be challenging. “There is a big difference, it’s a much better quality.” It’s a great time to join the team, as they are currently on fantastic form after beating rivals Montrose 5-0.
Hopefully Blairgowrie, Alyth and Coupar Angus will continue to bring more young stars to teams in the future like Rudi Brown, as it is a remarkable achievement to have so much talent in a small area.
