Broxburn sink Rose to book County Cup final place

Broxburn Athletic Colts book their place in the County Cup Final after running out convincing winners against a plucky Rose side.

It was Broxburn who dominated the first half and went close on numerous occasions, Dickson shot narrowly wide in the first minute of play, Gorman blasted over from six yards a minute later.

Dickson went close again in eight minutes, Scott headed against the bar shortly after.

Dickson continued his dominance, finding his effort saved. The Rose keeper was called into action shortly after with Henderson's had his shot well blocked.
Broxburn's McGregor was next with a shot, but could only turn his strike wide at the back post however Broxburn were to finally find the back of the net in 36 minutes; Drysdale's corner from the right was met with a powerful header from Millar high past the Rose keeper.

Rose levelled the game two minutes later; a high punt from thirty yards out was clawed out of the top corner by the Broxburn keeper Wilson but Rose were first to the loose ball to fire home.

Right on the break Broxburn were ahead again; the electric pace of McGregor found him through on the keeper after a fine pass from Henderson and he fired his effort past the advancing Rose keeper.

Into the second half and Broxburn went quickly increased their lead; a well struck penalty from Millar after Henderson was up-ended in the box by the Rose keeper.

Both teams were more evenly matched this half and both had goal scoring opportunities but it was in the final minute that Broxburn wrapped the game up, a great run to the byline from McGregor & his cross picked out the Broxburn sub Kerr to head home from two yards out.
