Queen Anne hold off Madras College to secure title

It was the last league game of the season and the league title was at stake. Queen Anne High School of Dunfermline going into the match undefeated, with 13 wins and a draw to their name. With Madras College of St Andrew's 3 points off the pace, Queen Anne needed to win or draw to win the league, Madras needed maximum points to secure the title. 
 
In excess of 50 fans watching from the sideline chanting from the off, creating a carnival atmosphere. They didn't have long to wait until the opening goal.
 
Just 40 seconds into the match Queen Anne took the lead. Scott Gray in the right place at the right time to convert a close range shot. 
 
The game flowed with most of the attacks going Queen Anne's way for the first half. Madras had few chances from open play, although they failed to capatise on numerous close range free kicks. 
 
On the half hour mark the ball was delivered from wide by Cameron Swanson and met from Scott Gray for his second after a small scramble in the box.

Madras came out flying in the second half and immediately broke though on goal, only to be denied by goalkeeper Craig Holding. 
 
However, the goal was coming. 15 minutes into the second half the ball was played though the middle of the Queen Anne defence and Madras scored to reduce the deficit. 
 
Madras continued to have most of the possession and forcing a number of corners, Queen Anne relying on the occasional counter attack.
 
With 20 minutes left Madras scored their second goal with a shot from the 18 yard box to beat the Queen Anne goalkeeper. It was all square and just one more goal for the visitors would send the league title in their direction.
 
Queen Anne then began to step up a gear, wrestling back the majority of possession. For the last few minutes of the game Madras were on the attack in numbers, but Queen Anne managed to hold out and win the league with a 2-2 draw. 
 
The Dunfermline based school celebrated with their large group of supporters, bringing to an end a fine season, which saw them undefeated throughout their entire league campaign.
