Brechin City FC Under 19s vs Dundee FC Under 19s
SFA Youth Cup Round 2
Angus outfit Brechin City are used to being underdogs when they travel to the City of Discovery to face either one of the Dundee clubs. However, City were in no such situation ahead of their SFA Youth Cup Round 2 tie. The home side sat pretty in third spot of the twenty-five team SFL Under 19s league, whereas the very youthful Dark Blues were no less than twenty places below.
The cup can be a great leveller and Dundee did indeed take the lead with eighteen minutes on the clock. Greg Birmingham was on hand to meet a cross from Leighton McIntosh and power a header past City keeper Ben Tough.
However, the lead was short lived as Brechin took the game by the scruff of the neck. Craig Mitchell scored from the spot and Matthew Adam netted shortly after, to put the home side ahead at the interval.

The second half saw Brechin pick up from where they left off and the Dundee resistance broke on the hour mark, with Mark Walker netting after his original effort had been saved.
Dundee pressed for a route back into the game but as the Dark Blues flooded bodies forward to no avail they were inevitably caught out in the closing stages. Adam was on hand to grab his second and Brechin's fourth as City marched into the next round.
