Bradley Duff’s hat trick helped Ferry Athletic Blues to an emphatic derby win over Ferry Yellows in the President’s League.

Duff’s treble was added to by Craig Bruce and Connal Cormack as Ferry Blues hit five goals in 19 first half minutes to take the three points and end Ferry Yellows unbeaten start to the season.

Both teams were looking to take the upper hand early on, with tackles flying in from both sets of players. It was Ferry Blues that struck first after 11 minutes when Cameron Murray cut in from the left and forced Stewart Linton into a save. The ball broke for Bradley Duff who stabbed it high into the net to break the deadlock.

Things got better for the Blues five minutes later when Luke Benvie’s run ended with him firing a shot against the crossbar before the ball bounced on the line and into the path of Duff, who was on hand to slot home his second from close range.

Ferry Yellows first chance came when Innes Middleton found Ryan Hush at a corner, only for the striker to see his shot cleared on the line by a host of Ferry Blues bodies.

Duff went close to completing his hat trick shortly after when the ball fell to him at a corner, but Josh Alexander managed to clear the ball to safety.

The resulting corner was met by Murray at the back post, and his knockdown was turned home from close-range by Craig Bruce as Ferry Blues extended their lead.

Ferry Yellows were shell-shocked by what was unfolding and fell further behind when Connal Cormack rounded Linton and rolled the ball into the net.

Ferry Blues added their fifth on the half hour mark when Scott Thaw broke from a corner and squared the ball for Duff, who stroked it home to complete his hat trick.

Hush and Middleton went close for Ferry Yellows at the start of the second half as they looked to mount an unlikely comeback.

Cavin Tosh fired narrowly wide before Hush was denied by Marcin Kunc. The ball broke for Tosh, who hit the post before being denied by Kunc.

Ferry Yellows did pull one back with 13 minutes to go when Gary Ellis fired a loose ball home.

Two minutes later, Hush slipped the ball past Kunc to set up a nervy final 10 minutes for Ferry Blues.

Ferry Blues had a chance to put the game beyond doubt when Liam Crockett set up Lucas Arthur, who could only strike the ball against the post.

In injury time, Tosh pulled another goal back for Ferry Yellows, but it was too little too late, as Ferry Blues held on to take the points and the bragging rights.
