Goals from Charlie Massie and Jack Moir handed Ferry Athletic their first win of the season against Dundee West. The hosts saw Kyler Van Der Toorn’s first half penalty kept out by Lewis Burns before Ferry struck in the second half.
Both sides were looking for their first points of the season after opening day defeats, and it was Ferry that created the first chance of the game when Jacob Sharpe released Owen Boath, but he didn’t connect with his strike allowing Dundee West keeper Jordan Walker to make an easy save.
The opening stages of the match were played largely in the midfield, with neither side creating any clear-cut chances. Ferry had seen more of the ball, but it was Dundee West that had the game’s best chance when Finlay Taylor was bundled over inside the box.
Kyler Van Der Toorn stepped up and saw his penalty pushed away by the diving Lewis Burns, who spread himself well to keep out Van Der Toorn’s follow up effort.
Ferry went close to the opener when a corner fell for Liam Scott, who saw his effort blocked by Cayden Smith. Scott went close with an effort moments later, but the sides went off level at the break.
