DDYFA Results Round-Up 11/03/18

Written by

There was a depleted fixture list due to more bad weather, but that didn’t stop the first champions of the season being crowned.

Here’s how the action went down:

Carnoustie Panmure sealed their spot in the Last 16 of the East Region Cup with a 3-1 win over East Fife YA. Dylan McLeish opened the scoring with a low drive just before half time and doubled his tally from the penalty spot after Jack Chalmers had been fouled.

Chalmers curled in a free kick from 20 yards to make sure of the win, despite East Fife pulling a goal back late in the game. Pitfour also advanced with a 4-0 win over AM Soccer.

In the J Clenaghan League, Forfar Boys beat DUSC 2-1.

Celtic Boys sealed the P Gibson League title with two games to spare as they beat Dundee SC 4-1. Dundee Thistle’s win over ACSC wasn’t enough to keep them in the race, and Monifieth’s 5-4 win over Dundee West Royals knocked them out of contention.

Fairmuir were in fine goal scoring form as they cruised into the next round of the East Region Cup at the expense of Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts. Riley Nelson and Ryan McGregor both scored four times, Ryan Hutton netted a hat trick, and there were goals for Billy Donald, Mark Ross and Kyle Smith.

Holders Forfar Boys are also through after beating Kinross Colts 5-1.

Kaden Houghton scored a hat trick as ACSC put seven goals past Montrose in the DS Rennie League. Rui Gordon opened and closed the scoring, while Logan Coull also scored twice.

Dryburgh beat Vale of Tay 3-2 in the Watson McInally League, and Carnoustie won 3-0 against St Murdochs.

Fairmuir kept up their unbeaten run in the G Taylor League with an 8-0 win over Broughty Panthers. Broughty United lifted themselves up the table with a 3-2 win over Dundee Thistle, Montrose beat Forfar 3-1 and Riverside won 2-1 against Celtic Boys.

Dundee Thistle pulled off a major scalp as they beat top flight Scone Thistle 3-0 in the East Region Cup.

Forfar beat Dundee Rangers 5-2 in the battle of the bottom two in the Dave Pullar League.

Carnoustie warmed up for next week’s J Cord Cup final with a 3-1 win over Dryburgh, that took them joint top of the Bodycare Complimentary Clinics League. Vincent Edmonds opened the scoring midway through the first half but Dryburgh levelled the score before half time.

Kieran Bradford put Carnoustie back in front, before Danny Edelston kept out a Dryburgh penalty. Matty Strachan scored late on as Carnoustie sealed the three points.

Ryan McLaren scored a hat trick as Fairmuir Violet booked their place in the quarter finals of the East Region Cup. Ross Bell and Jaden Murphy were also on target as they beat Luncarty 5-1.

Monifieth Tayside beat Monifieth Athletic 2-0 to advance, and Brechin saw off Kelty Heart Colts 4-2.
