Two goals in the space of a minute earned Pitfour a spot in the last 16 of the East Region Cup. Kairn Brand and Ben Clos’s goals put Pitfour in the driving seat, and they made sure there was no Dundee West comeback with a professional performance.
Pitfour knocked Dundee West out of the Jean Pierre Babin Cup on penalties and came flying out of the traps. Alistar Alcorn’s early strike brought a save out of David Boylan. The resulting corner was cleared only as far as Ross Cameron, and his stinging strike was tipped over by Boylan.
The visitors finally broke the deadlock when Alcorn bested Morgan Harrow on the left, and despite Boylan smothering his shot, Kairn Brand was on hand to smash the loose ball into the net.
Less than a minute later Ben Clos gathered the ball 20 yards from goal, and he proceeded to drive into the box and slip the ball past Boylan into the corner.
Kai Finnie nearly added to Dundee West’s woes when he spotted Boylan off his line, but he lifted the ball narrowly over the bar.
Dundee West were growing into the game and had their first chance when Ryley Duncan slipped in Logan Smith, who saw his shot blocked by a Pitfour defender. The resulting corner was missed by Pitfour keeper Archie Kelly-Barton, which allowed Lewis Hutton a shot at goal, but a Pitfour body diverted the ball away from danger.
