The final two weeks of the footballing calendar were hit hard by the weather, but a few plucky sides braced the sub-zero temperatures and played their matches.
Here’s how the action went down:

U13s

Ferry Athletic secured a spot in the Last 16 of the Scottish Cup, as they beat Fairmuir 3-2 at the GA Arena.

Blaike Kyles put Ferry ahead after eight minutes with a cool finish, and Aiden Lockhart doubled their advantage after 20 minutes with a dipping strike.

Kyles volleyed in his second of the match five minutes later, but goals either side of half time from Stuart Heenan set up a nervy finish, but Ferry held on and are now the last team from Dundee in the competition.

Dundee United SC ended 2017 with a 5-2 win over Newtyle in the J Clenaghan League.

U15s

Broughty United Panthers sealed a place in the semi-finals of the Tommy Clark Trophy as they beat DUSC 3-2 in both sides last match of the year.

Ryan Carr and Daniel Boyle both netted in the opening 10 minutes as Broughty Panthers came flying out the traps, but a superb free kick from Lewis Thomson brought DUSC back into the game.

Panthers’ goalkeeper Wilson Price pulled of a string of impressive saves before Boyle fired in his second of the match.

DUSC continued to dominate for most of the second half, and Price was eventually beaten when Reece Rankin curled in DUSC’s second of the match 12 minutes from time.

In injury time, DUSC were awarded a controversial penalty, but Price kept out Thomson’s spot kick and Broughty ended the year on a high.

U17s

Matt McKinnon’s strike wasn’t enough to stop East Craigie Swifts losing 2-1 to Edinburgh City Whites in the Scottish Cup, while Forfar Boys beat Dundee Rangers 5-4 in the first round of the Elwood Cup.

U19s

Brechin earned their first point of the season with a 0-0 draw against Coupar Angus, while Letham Tans secured a place in the semi-final of the Peter MacAvoy Cup with a 2-0 win over Dundee West.
