Doubles from Rowan Waddell and Liam Baillie helped Forfar Boys to a 5-0 victory over St Andrews Colts in the Ross Ballantine Cup Final. The result ensured a quadruple season for the Forfar side as the trophy was added to the Café Royale League title, Diamond Jubilee Cup and East Region Trophy
Playing with a confidence that can be only gained from winning regularly Forfar started well carving out an opening in the early stages which was knocked over the bar by Baillie.
The immediate pressure paid off and in the fifth minute Forfar were ahead, Waddell showing good alertness to pick up a loose ball and place a shot into the bottom corner.
Having got the advantage Forfar went in search of another and Dominik Naglik had two efforts in quick succession which finished narrowly wide.
As the half-continued St Andrews began to enjoy some sustained possession which led to Harry Paul shooting wide of target.
Naglik continued to have an influential role in his Forfar’s attacking play releasing Waddell into space who brought out an impressive save by St Andrews keeper Nathan Wilson.
On the 27th minute Forfar went further ahead, Dagan Bell did well to force a corner and his delivery picked out Waddell who nodded into the net for his second of the day
Bell’s accuracy from the corner flag was again evident just on the half time whistle as he found Ethan Murray in space to make it 3-0.
