Jeanfield Swifts took the spoils at home with a 9-1 victory against Kinross Colts. A Cameron Ogg hat-trick  and goals from Robbie Young, Boyd Ferguson, Mark Peebles, Richard Donavan and Alim Etri, as well as an own goal, sealed the win. A Liam Murray free kick restored some pride for the visitors.

It was an end-to-end opening at the Riverside, with Jeanfield forcing the first chance as Kinross goalkeeper Lewis Bathgate denied Ogg. The hosts won a succession of corners and it was third time lucky as Murray put the ball into his own net to give Swifts the lead.

Kinross responded with Finlay Reith and Allen Saunders forcing throw-ins in dangerous positions as they searched for an immediate response. The Colts continued to search for an equaliser and Craig Swift almost got it as he capitalized on a loose ball in the box, but Jordan Kinnon was equal to it. Jeanfield doubled their lead on 27 minutes, as Young’s strike found the bottom right-hand corner.

Two minutes later the lead was extended to three: Bathgate spilled the ball and Michael Drysdale’s clearance could only find Ferguson, who fired the ball into the back of the net.

With eight minute to go until half time, Swifts made it four when Ogg beautifully curled the ball from the edge of the box into the far corner, his shot clipping the bar and the post on its way in.

The second half began on a slightly controversial note. A red card was shown to one of the Jeanfield substitutes for what seemed to be an illegal substitution. However, Jeanfield still had 11 men on the park and made it five after 56 minutes. Donavan had his shot blocked and Peebles followed in for the rebound.

Donavan fired over three minutes later as Jeanfield continued to pile pressure on the Kinross defence.

Kinross took this as a wakeup call and finally sprung into life in the second half. Good link-up play between Saunders and Murray couldn’t quite find an opening. The Colts almost pegged one back when Cameron Donnelly had his strike deflected wide after good play by Reith and Swift to set up the winger.

That deflection was key for Jeanfield as within 60 seconds of that chance for Kinross, the home side scored their sixth when Ogg finished off a swift counter-attack.

Jeanfield began to assert their dominance and scored a seventh. Ogg collected a long through-ball before rounding Bathgate to complete his hat-trick with 82 minutes played.

The scoring wasn’t quite finished for the day, as Donavan cut inside and from the edge of the box curled it past the keeper.

In the first minute of added time, Etri nodded home Ogg’s cross to score his side's ninth goal of the afternoon.

However the final cheer went to the visitors. Murray placed a peach of a free-kick over the wall, curling away from Kinnon and into the top corner. However, despite that late consolation goal, it was Jeanfield's day as they claimed their first win in Group A.
