Jeanfield Swifts took the spoils at home with a 9-1 victory against Kinross Colts. A Cameron Ogg hat-trick and goals from Robbie Young, Boyd Ferguson, Mark Peebles, Richard Donavan and Alim Etri, as well as an own goal, sealed the win. A Liam Murray free kick restored some pride for the visitors.
It was an end-to-end opening at the Riverside, with Jeanfield forcing the first chance as Kinross goalkeeper Lewis Bathgate denied Ogg. The hosts won a succession of corners and it was third time lucky as Murray put the ball into his own net to give Swifts the lead.
Kinross responded with Finlay Reith and Allen Saunders forcing throw-ins in dangerous positions as they searched for an immediate response. The Colts continued to search for an equaliser and Craig Swift almost got it as he capitalized on a loose ball in the box, but Jordan Kinnon was equal to it. Jeanfield doubled their lead on 27 minutes, as Young’s strike found the bottom right-hand corner.
Two minutes later the lead was extended to three: Bathgate spilled the ball and Michael Drysdale’s clearance could only find Ferguson, who fired the ball into the back of the net.
With eight minute to go until half time, Swifts made it four when Ogg beautifully curled the ball from the edge of the box into the far corner, his shot clipping the bar and the post on its way in.
