Dryburgh Athletic enjoy prolific league win

Written by

Fixture: Dryburgh Athletic v Forfar Farmington Eagles
Competition: Emma Mitchell League
Date: 4/4/15

Forfar Eagles were missing six players due to injury and illness so Dryburgh Athletic agreed to 9 v 9 game.

The game started pretty evenly with both sides getting to grips with the reduced numbers and unusual formations.

The breakthrough arrived in the 10th minute and it came through Dryburgh's central midfielder, Alix Barclay-Beatt. She burst through the middle of the park, with a great driving run, to smash into the left hand corner of the net.

This goal was quickly followed by an Alana Ramage strike, that resulted from an Abbie McCabe indirect free kick inside the Forfar box after a pass back to the Forfar goalie.

McCabe was again at the centre of the 3rd goal as her corner was deflected into the Forfar net by a defender.

Keira Flynn and Megan Hamilton added 3 strikes between them before half time to make the score 5-0.

Half Time: Dryburgh Athletic 5-0 Forfar Farmington Eagles

The first counter of the second half went to Forfar, and the impressive Cara Hawes, with a lovely passing move and neat finish.

Dryburgh then upped their attacking play and this saw some great goals. Megan Hamilton notched another from close range on the 50-minute mark and this was followed by the goal of the game from Alana Ramage, who cut in from the right and curled a lovely left foot strike over the Forfar keeper.

Not to be out done by her fellow attacker, Keira Flynn went on a personal scoring rampage notching another three to take her tally to five.

Forfar battled away throughout the 70 minutes and were unlucky to be so far behind as their play merited a closer score line. Dryburgh were clinical in their finishing now as first goalscorer, Alix Barclay-Beatt added her second of the match with a carbon copy of her first to complete the scoring.

Standouts for Dryburgh were five goal Keira Flynn and Katie McCluskey, while Cara Hawes and Rio Mitchell did well for Eagles.
