Erin Cuthbert of Rangers FC Girls, has won the first Jamie Skinner Goal of the Season Award, in association with Trans World Soccer Strips 4 Trips

Named in memory of 13-year-old Edinburgh youngster Jamie, who tragically collapsed and died on the pitch while playing for Tynecastle FC last year, the award aims to find the grassroots goal of the season.

The Scotland youth international opened the scoring in the 2013 17’s age group Scottish Cup final, with a solo effort reminiscent of Maradona’s goal against England in 1986 (pictured right, Cuthbert celebrates scoring with her team-mates, photo Alan Graham).

Voting took place over the space of two weeks, on the YFS website. The competition was open to any goal caught on camera at a youth match in 2013/14. Over 50 nominees were put forward, before being whittled down to a shortlist of 15. Following the social media vote, the five most popular goals advanced to the final.

Cuthbert pipped Dean Burgess of Edina Hibs U13’s, who scored a 40 yard wonder-strike in his side’s Scottish Cup final victory, to the top prize. The finalists were Alex Thomson of Syngenta Juveniles U14’s, Scott Clark of Milngavie Wanderers U15’s and Dylan Moore of Hutchison Vale U13’s.

In addition to the public poll, the final saw many well-known football faces cast their vote. Scotland defender Ifeoma Dieke, BBC’s Richard Gordon and Livingston FC assistant manager Mark Burchill were amongst those who gave Cuthbert’s goal their vote.

Cuthbert said: “I am so pleased to have won, especially with the quality of goals on show. It was the Scottish Cup Final and I was just so happy to help the team clinch the treble. Honoured to the first winner of the Jamie Skinner Goal of the Season Award - hope he would have liked the goal.”

- Nominations.
- Shortlisting vote.
- Final vote, between top 3 goals.

YFS TV will be present at the Regional Cup finals in the South East, Central and West.

Due to popular demand, the entire match footage will be made available for each game. Uninterrupted action from the first whistle to the last, not missing a single kick of the ball.

This will be made available free of charge as a high quality digital download (sent to you by email a few days after your game), exclusively to the members of the YFS Supporters Club, which is accepting registrations ahead of its launch next season.

Anyone who signs up by 10pm on Sunday 8th June for the YFS Supporters Club will also be entered into a prize draw, to win a set of brand new Adidas kits for the team of your choice.

For more details and to sign up for the YFS Supporters Club, see below...

2014/2015 will see the launch of an exciting new initiative from Youth Football Scotland. The YFS Supporters Club will give people who are passionate about what YFS is doing the chance to help us grow, shape the organisation's future and enjoy a number of benefits. The first of which - the chance to win a brand new set of Adidas playing kit for your team, thanks to Host Your Kit.

Since launching in 2010, Youth Football Scotland has gone from being primarily grant funded to almost entirely self funded. This means our staff and volunteers spend a great deal of their time on fundraising. Naturally, we would prefer to spend our time growing our website and services, reaching out to more areas of Scotland and doing more for the youth football community - covering more teams in more regions.

It has always been a great passion of ours to keep YFS completely free. It's an expensive business being a youth football parent or coach and we want to give something back without hitting people in the pocket. However, we can't ignore the fact that thousands of people use our website on a daily basis and if just a small percentage of them were to pay a few pence per day, our emphasis could be switched and the youth football community would reap the rewards.

Sign up between now and Sunday 8th June at 10pm and you will be entered in a random draw to win a brand new full set of Adidas playing kit (example pictured above left), courtesy of Host Your Kit and Iomart. Sign up below or check out the FAQ for more information. There is no limit to sign ups from the same team, so the more people that sign up, the better chance your team stands of winning.
