Maryhill Juniors
U19's Scottish Cup Rnd 3
27 October 2013
This was always going to be a cracker of a cup tie and it never let us down. EKFC beat Maryhill 5-1 earlier in the season on league duty and took lead in 11 minutes with a great free kick.
The game flowed either way until half time.
Half Time: Maryhill Juniors 0-1 EKFC Gold
Maryhill came out fighting like their lives depended on it scoring after eight minutes into the second half through Thomas Clark from close range.
Maryhill now looked stronger and got rewards 5 minutes later with a lovely move down right side in which Rhys Canning crossed to the back post and from 10 yards, on the volley, Thomas Clark struck again.
Maryhill pushed forward with a great move down left side and overlapping full back Thomas walker crossed and found Martin Hope with a bullet header to give the home side a two goal lead.
EK were not to be denied and scored 10 minutes later with a header from a corner to get them back in game.
They then found the equaliser. A strike from the edge of the box with into bottom corner made the score 3-3 with 20 minutes. Both teams went for it but could not find a winner. And neither team, not the referee, knew that the tie was actually meant to go to extra time!
Brings us to a replay thus weekend in what could be another cracker between two good sides who play some great football
Full Time: Maryhill Juniors 3-3 EKFC Gold
