In the Under 14 Paisley, Johnstone & District YFL Division 2 game of the day, second place Gourock YAC Red hosted top of the pile Beith Juniors. Gourock were on an eleven game unbeaten run, whereas their visitors hadn't lost a league match this season.

Both teams came up determined to win this game which resulted in no team really commanding the game for most of the first half. It took a great piece of skill and turn of pace from striker Liam Kelly to lose his marker and play an inviting cross for midfielder Cameron Stirling to head home to break the deadlock and add to his impressive goal tally this season.

Niall Gallacher made it two for YAC Reds when he made the most of a defensive slip to break through and round the Beith keeper and scoring. It remained 2-0 at the interval.

The second half had Beith playing down the slope and with the introduction of two substitutes they came at Gourock stronger. However, the home side defended well and held off the threat.

With fifteen minutes to go Saul Gibson made the points safe with a tremendous goal, picking up the ball in a very wide position he had great vision and hit an unstoppable shot high into the Beith goal.

Beith pulled a goal back in the last minute after when their midfielder lifted the ball into an empty net after YAC Reds keeper Kyle Thomas had left his line to block the shot of the Beith centre forward.

Reds were not finished yet and made it four when Adam Neil picked himself up to score the penalty he won when he was brought down in the box. Gourock remain some distance behind Beith in the title race, but now look in a strong position to win promotion.
