Linlithgow Rose CFC
U16 County Cup - R2
A wet and miserable October morning saw The Rose travel to Livingston to play Livi FCBC in what essentially is the quarter final. The Rose going into the game full of confidence with their recent form but this is the cup and anything could happen.

The game started with poor play from both sides partly due to the wet conditions and at times was like 'football on ice' with the amount of slips and trips occurring. After everybody finding their feet Livi were looking the stronger side although couldn't quite get the shot away.

Most of the half from thereafter was end to end stuff with the Rose playing killer balls through but being caught offside more so than not, but finally the perfect ball was played through and an routine finish for the teams top goalscorer. 1-0 Linlithgow.

Livingston were not giving up without a fight they kept attacking strong. Relief came for them when their Striker got played through from a brilliant ball, Defender unable to nick to ball away, good finish. 1-1. Half time shortly after.

Half Time: Livingston FCBC 1-1 Linlithgow Rose CFC

Second half and a completely different Linlithgow that we have seen in previous weeks, basically letting the opposition attack. This happened over and over. The coach becoming restless but still no difference and the Rose were punished with a ball down the line and a slip from the centre back left the striker through on goal 1 on 1 and finished well. 2-1 Livingston.

The attacks were coming from the rose but time after time caught offside. A counter attack from livi saw the Centre forward through on goal and defender makes the foul, gets booked, free kick on the edge of the penalty area, well finished. 3-1 Livingston.

Kick off again and Livingston in no rush to take any set pieces. A rotation of rapid play from the Rose to calm play from Livi forced Linlithgow to play the possession game and then glimpses of brilliance came from Linlithgow. A striker on the run through from half way got a snap shot away which waswhich was fumbled by the keeper while going to ground for a tap in. 3-2 Livingston.

Restarted with 5 mins to go and the Rose went full out to get another. Which was not long in coming with a line run, cutback and finished nicely. 3-3 and full time.

Full Time: Livingston FCBC 3-3 Linlithgow Rose CFC

Extra Time and thankfully Linlithgow played extra time as they finished normal time. Strong attack which was too good for a tired Livi team.

The killer blow came with a beautifully weighted pass and easily slotted home for the striker's hat-trick. The rest of extra time was dragged out from Linlithgow with defence the priority.

Also taking their time with set pieces and throw ins making Livi play keep ball but wasn't enough to get past the solid defence.

Final Result: Livingston FCBC 3-4 Linlithgow Rose CFC (AET)
