Pioneering Paisley side Gleniffer Thistle, strode on through to the third round of the Tom McPhillips Cup, when they took on Erskine YFC and punished the visitors with two late dramatic goals.
Straight from the off, both teams started well, but it wasn't long before Gleniffer showed their superiority and it was evident that they had a blood thirsty hunger for the ball and chased the game at all costs.
As the first period progressed, Thistle dominated the field of play. Creating a myriad of goal scoring opportunities was, Donald Thomson, Ryan Anderson and Mark Hewitson, all coming close to getting the all important first goal, but to no avail, a hard working Erskine rearguard thwarted any chance the Jags created, which left the home side going in at the interval, bemused as to why they weren't in front.

With the second half getting underway, a formidable Thitle side continued to ply the pressure on Erskine and if it wasn't for some decisive defending by Abdelkarim Ouamane and Liam McMurray, along with the reliable hands of Andrew Paterson between the sticks, the Jags could have been well in front.
With Erskine withstanding copious amounts of pressure and having three goals against them ruled out for offside by Referee Tony Spiers, they held their heads high and with two minutes left on the clock, they had a rare second half jaunt up the field, and when the ball kindly broke to Alan Purvis, he took his chance, and against the run of play, he connected well with the ball and steered it out of reach of Jags stopper Scott Vallance to finally break the dead-lock and make it one-nil to the visitors.
With time running out, an undaunted Thistle side kept up their barrage of attack on the Erskine goal and their never say die attitude finally paid off when Donald Thomson won the ball inside the box and pummelled a fierce shot beyond the stretched out Andrew Paterson and levelled the scoring.
With extra time looking inevitable, the Jags continued their relentless attack on the away goal and when Matthew Fender played a through ball to the charging Colin Brennan, he put a clinical finish by the Erskine goalie and gave his side a merited place in the third round.
