St Johnstone completed the double over Heart of Midlothian to put a severe dent in the Edinburgh side's league title aspirations. The Saints won 2-1 at Riccarton earlier in the campaign, but faced a Hearts side in fine form, looking to preserve a 7 point lead the top of the table.
Callum McConnell scored either side of half time, to put the Perth side in control. Their grip on the game tightened yet further when Kevin McHattie was dismissed for Hearts.
Scott Gray made it 3-0, putting the result beyond doubt. Callum Tapping did pull a goal back for Hearts, but with little time left on the clock, it only served as a consolation.
Hearts now lead Celtic by 4 points, having played 2 games more and need the Hoops to slip up in order to pip them to top spot.
