Yaw Osei’s double knocked Dundee out of the Youth Cup. The Raith striker scored twice in a first half that saw Matty Henvey score Dundee’s goal from the penalty spot.
Dundee were seeing most of the ball in the opening stages, but it was Raith who struck first through Yaw Osei.
A Dundee corner was dealt with by the Raith defence, and when Jack Smith sent a long ball over the top, there was only ever going to be one outcome as Osei raced clear and stabbed the ball into the bottom corner.
Despite their dominance of the ball, Dundee were failing to trouble the Raith backline. A free kick was misjudged by the Dundee defence, allowing Jack Smith a shot at goal. Fortunately for the Dark Blues, his snapshot was straight at Kyle Gourlay.
Cammy Mooney nearly brought Dundee level as his over hit cross was pushed over by the back-peddling Rory Brian. There was nothing the Raith stopper could do five minutes before the break, as Matty Henvey brought Dundee level.
Jordan Piggott went down inside the box, and Henvey blasted the resulting penalty into the bottom left corner.
With the referee ready to blow the half time whistle, Raith went in front again. Osei stood up Piggott, sent him the wrong way with a clever dummy, and placed a low shot across Gourlay into the corner.
