First up, congratulations to Glasgow City under 13's on their SWF Youth Cup Final success at Toryglen this afternoon. City put on a dominant display which helped lead to a resounding 12-1 victory. Commiserations to Aberdeen on losing in this cup final and falling at the last hurdle, but they had a very good run to the final and can leave with their heads held high.
Glasgow City were very quick out the traps and unleashed shot after shot but Nicole Miller, despite the scoreline, had a superb afternoon between the sticks for Aberdeen 12's. Glasgow City stormed the shot front, especially shots on target, with a massive difference between the sides (35-7). The forwards of Glasgow City stood out with a wave of attacking movment which set them well on their way to cup glory.
The game was won and lost mainly down to chances created with Glasgow City recording nearly 50 shots. Aberdeen had set out well but the older, more physical and essentially more experienced Glasgow City were just too strong for the girls from the North. Glasgow City can be pleased with how they played but their coach Craig Joyce may have wanted the girls to be that bit more clinical in the final third as they squandered quite a few chances.
In the end, a hard fought, resounding victory for Glasgow City, but Aberdeen cannot be downhearted as they came up against a more experienced Glasgow City side. So final congratulations to Glasgow City under 13's on a day that will live long in their memory.
