East Kilbride travelled south to face Dumfries Girls, in a match between last season's league winners and cup winners respectively. The last time they met was at Toryglen, when Dumfries dramatically came from behind to lift the League Cup.

Both sides had started their 2013 campaigns brightly, taking maximum points from their first two games. Something had to give.

An evenly matched saw the teams go in level at half time, with 2-2 the score. Laura Inglis and Katie Craigie were on target for the visitors.

East Kilbride were quickest out of the blocks in the second half, with Hannah Johnston putting them 3-2 ahead. With the match still in the balance Cara McGurn scored twice to seal an impressive victory for the South Lanarkshire side.

Bonnyton Thistle travelled to Crookedholm to take on second place Balmoral Thistle.

The home side started positively when Frazer Bryden saw his brilliant effort hit the bar.

Balmoral dominated the first 20 minutes of the half. Midfielder Frazer Bryden had to come off injured, when he hurt his knee in a collision.

However the last twenty minutes of the half was all Bonnyton, who took the lead through their winger, who tapped in after Michael Hamilton made a good save.

Half Time: Balmoral Thistle 0-1 Bonnyton Thistle

The second half started with balmoral really taking the game to Bonnyton and after about 15 minutes of the second half, the impressive John Montgomery beat two men and slotted a nice pass through to Cameron Ross who scored with a decent finish.

Balmoral defender Blaire Tomlinson had to come off when he got an elbow to the lip. He and Shaun Maculloch were both replaced.

The rest of the match was close with both teams having good chances, Balmoral hitting the crossbar through Jonathan Townend and Bonnyton having a header cleared off the line.

A draw was a probably a fair result but balmoral will have felt they done enough to win it.

Full Time: Balmoral Thistle 1-1 Bonnyton Thistle
