Windsor youngsters enjoy presentation ceremony

Author: Ian Mackay

Musselburgh Windsor Presentation Evening_65I was at the Ravelston House Hotel in Musselburgh for the presentation ceremony for the Windsor's under-9s - hordes of them! I then covered one of their training nights at Pinkie Sports Ground in the East Lothian town.

Again, lots of eager, bright and honest young boys all in the colours of the famous Windsor Football Club. The function room at the hotel was packed to capacity with children and their families.

The sports ground was also packed with young people, all playing and training as part of their participation in the greatest team sport in the world - FOOTBALL!

Guest of honour at the presentation was Billy Brown, honorary president of Musselburgh Windsor and also assistant manager at Easter Road. I was there to take pictures, a huge file of them for the use of the players, their parents and the club to use.

Over the past flew months I have also seen, reported and taken pictures of cup finals involving teams from Musselburgh Windsor.

As always, it was a particular pleasure to listen to Billy Brown speak privately to me and to pick up some really nice stories that will do him proud to have published here on this website. Billy, as part of  his holiday in the sun - he is bronzed and fit in preparation for the players return to training with Hibs FC - was in Barcelona.

In this massive city, Billy knew one man, the Barca legend Steve Archibald! And the two of them met each other purely by chance to have a right old chinwag. Steve had a marvellous career with Barca and he now lives in the city. Billy and he are old friends.
