Blackburn United Under 19s vs Cavalry Park Under 19s
South East Regional Cup - Round 2
Calvary Park started well in this U19’s clash at Murrayfield park, shooting just wide after only a few minutes. After the Initial first chance there was very little in terms of efforts on goal until 20 mins gone when Cavalry took the lead from a long ball, a tactic they used effectively all game. With more than a hint of offside the striker didn’t wait for the whistle & tucked the ball away nicely.
This spurred United into action and they went onto dominate the remaining time in the 1st half. A deserved equaliser after 30 mins from Sean Dougan who glided past 3 players before firing into the far corner gave Blackburn more believe. Despite hitting the wood work 3 times in the first half and missing 3 more guilt edged chances it remained 1-1 at half time.
United had to change personel at HT which disrupted their play in the second half which saw Calvary go ahead from a free kick. Calvary used the long ball well and a break from the ball over the top on the right led to the 3rd. Blackburn again hit the woodwork and forced the keeper into 2 more good saves. After Taylor was sent off for his second foul of the game, Blackburn conceded a fourth.
With a bit more luck and better finishing it could have been United progressing to the semis. Full Time: Blackburn United Under 19s 1-4 Cavalry Park Under 19s
