Dons leave it late against battling Accies
Friday 1st April

Aberdeen left it very late to get the points in their SPL U19's clash with Hamilton Academical.

It was a weakened Aberdeen side who turned out and they had the ball in the net first. After 18 minuted the Dons appeared to be ahead after a corner was turned home, though the referee judged there to have been a fould before the goal.

Both sides had good chances in the first half and with a swirling wind causing havoc at Blairgownie playing fields neither side could take the lead.

Just after the hour it was the home side who broke the deadlock. Fraser Ryan with a goal of truely outstanding quality. The winger won the ball at near the corner flag after a strong tackle and he then went on a winding run and drilled low into the net.

Hamilton continued to battle and Aberdeen remained resiliant. However on 80 minutes a free kick was delivered into the box by the Accies, some loose defending left Brown free who pounced and put the ball past Lukasik in the Aberdeen goal.

A late penalty shout was denied when Aberdeen captain Nicky Low went down in the box but was booked for simulation.

The ever determined Low drove on and produced the late winner for his side. Tirelss work in the midfield brought Low to just outside the area, Low blasted a shot high into the net past the 'keeper.

A good win for the Dons as they tighten their stranglehold on 4th whilst Hamilton stay stuck in the basement area of the table.

Aberdeen 2 (Ryan, Low) - 1 Hamilton (Brown)

There was a big crowd to watch this highly anticipated Scottish Cup semi final between Dyce and Erskine, which was played at Ian Mair Park, Dyce.

The game was only one minute old and Dyce had to take Robbie Collinson off because of a broken wrist. He was sent to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and hopefully will have a speedy recovery.

It was all Erskine for a spell after that but Dyce did have a chance through Ollie Macintosh's volley from twenty yards, which just went wide.

Dyce had another chance on nineteen minutes after Scott Anderson's cross was just volleyed over by Thomas Robertson.

Robertson then scored with his 2nd attempt when he volleyed home from six yards after a great cross from Kai Ross.

Half Time: Dyce BC Under 16s 1-0 Erskine YFC Under 16s

Dyce thought they had went 2-0 up at the start of the second half when Callum Yule's shot went just wide from sixteen yards. However, it wasn't to be and the game took another twist.

Erskine equalised against the run of play as a great ball was sent in by Kyle Docherty which was headed home by quarter final goal hero Jordan Verrecchia.

Next Dyce had another injury to worry about as Ollie MacIntosh was taken off after suffering a heavy tackle.

Erskine have a chance to win it in the end but Stuart Close came to Dyce's rescue, blocking Kyle Docherty's shot

It was a quiet start to the first period extra time but Daniel Reidy nearly gave Erskine the lead after turning away from Mackintosh but his shot went wide of the target.

In the opening minutes of the 2nd half in extra time Dyce took the lead again after Lewis Michie's corner was headered into the top right hand corner by Cameron Buchan from thirteen yards.

But although they were winning a blow was on the way as Dyce had another player taken off. This time through their captain Thomas Robertson.

However, Dyce held on and went through to the final where they'll play Hutchison Vale of Edinburgh.

Kintore comfortably won the East 'Shire Derby at Kintore School this afternoon with a 4-0 win.

There wasn't a lot to report on in that half until the 38th minute when former Aberdeen player Greg Mitchell opened the scoring.

Within three minutes of the re-start it was 3-0 kintore with goals from Jack May and last season's Westdyke Captain Craig Turriff.

To rub salt in the wounds, Ryan Berrie scored an own goal on the hour mark.

Elsewhere in the League Albion defeated Peterhead 1-0 at Grandholm, while there were cup wins for Deveronvale, Hilton and Colony Park over Middlefield Wasps, Cove and East End Delta respectively.
