Ellon Meadows Under 14s vs Fraserburgh Link Up YFC Under 14s

Ellon faced the team at the top of the table today with Fraserburgh being unbeaten in the league to date.
Ellon started well and took the lead after 7 minutes after good work in the box by Cochrane gave him the chance to fire the ball home. Ellon went further ahead after Bunkell cleverly chested the ball into the path of Cochrane who raced into the box and supplied a cool finish.
Fraserburgh were not out of the game though and raced through the Ellon defence almost immediately after the restart to pull a goal back. Shortly afterwards the score was levelled at 2-2 when Ellon failed to clear their lines and allowed Fraserburgh to score.
There was no further score in the first half as the weather deteriorated and players and spectators shivered through a sleety shower.

Fraserburgh took the lead at the start of the second half with a goal that had more than a suspicion of offside. Midway through the half Ellon brought the game back the level pegging when Gill outpaced the opposition defence to finish well.
Ellon made it 4-3 ten minutes from the end when Gill raced to save a ball going over the sideline, turned and ran across the edge of the box before playing in Blair who composed himself and placed the ball out of the keepers reach.
The game was on a knife edge until two minutes from the end when Moffatt played the ball to Bowie who played in Gill to go one on one and round the Fraserburgh keeper before striking the ball home.
Some excellent work from all the Ellon players today with some stout defending coupled with clever attacking football.
