Game 1 - Donside v Glentanar - Donside started the competition well for a change and went 2 goals ahead, against a very good team. Glentanar managed to sneak a goal back to make it a nervy ending, but Donside held on for the victory. FT: Donside 2 - 1 Glentanar Game 2 - Donside v Kellands - Kellands had most of the play in this game but as we all know, you have to convert good play into goals, and there was a late twist when we managed to make the breakthrough, with no time left for Kellands to react. FT: Donside 1 - 0 Kellands Game 3 - Donside v Stonehaven – It was mostly one way traffic for Donside and we managed to score 4 goals without reply against a Stonehaven team who were always threatening. FT: Donside 4 - 0 Stonehaven Game 4 - Donside v Colony Park - Colony could make this last game interesting as a win would bring them level on points, but Donside pressed hard and came up with the goods and recorded a deserved victory. FT: Donside 1 - 0 Colony Park Semi Final - Donside v Ellon Meadows – We were up against the runners-up from the other qualifying group in the Semi-Final. Ellon had most of the play during the game, but Donside showed great strength of character to dig deep and get the win to send them through into the final. FT: Donside 1 - 0 Ellon Meadows Final - Donside v Glentanar – Glentanar had finished runners-up in our group and made it through their semi-final to set up a repeat of our opening game. This was an evenly contested game as both teams had played well during the tournament, but Donside stuck to their formation and game plan and ran out the winners at the end, with Craig Benson scoring the decisive goal with 2 minutes to go, to complete a hat-trick of tournament wins at Kemnay. FT: Donside 1 - 0 Glentanar Well done to all the boys, only conceding a single goal in the entire tournament was a terrific achievement. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS x 3! Squad: Craig Ballantyne, Craig Benson, Mark Reid, Sam Hunter, Sam Nicol, Ewan Freeman, Owen Bowie, Kevin Low, Aaron Watkins, and Aidan Sheridan. |
