Glentanar sealed a trip to Pittodrie on the 9th May after a 4-0 win over Westdyke with a convincing display however if Westdyke didn't miss their early penalty it could have the been the Westhillers that were making the trip to the SPL ground.

Westdyke had a penalty in the 6th minute after Matty Mitchell was brought down in the area by Liam Cheyne and Andrew Davidson stepped up to take the penalty which went wide. The visitors were made to pay after the miss.

The Blue and White Hoops did make a good start to the game and Glentanar's 1st goal was against the run of play because Westdyke looked the more dominant of the two teams however the visitors switched off for the 14th minute opener after Jordon Smith was allowed to go on a dashing run before blasting the ball past Rohan Bendel.

Smith nearly made it 2-0 to Glentanar after he recieved the ball from Matthew Steer and then tried his luck with a 20 yard drive which just went inches wide of the left hand post in the 22nd minute. The hosts were to be celebrating again 12 minutes later though.

As Glentanar made it 2-0 which gave them some breathing space after Liam Cheyne sent in a delightful ball from the left hand side which was met by Elliott McDonald who perfectly got in front of Bendel to head it home.

Half Time: Glentanar BC 2-0 Westdyke BC

The half time team talks were from a Glentanar point of view keep going where as a goal back in the Westdyke camp would of brought the Westhillers back in the tie. They almost let the Woodside outfit in once again though just 30 seconds into the 2nd half after a bit of miscommunication which had been affecting the visitors in the 1st half let in Elliott McDonald who tried his luck from the edge of the box however the effort just went over the bar.

Glentanar then booked their Pittodrie date with Culter on the 9th May after making it 3-0 in the 52nd minute after a great ball came in from Lewis Watson which was met by the aerial presence of Smith who perfectly guided the header into the net.

It wasn't to get better for Westdyke as Glentanar kept their attacking presence going and it saw Lewis Stephen deliver another great ball which was met by Jordon Smith who tried to get his hat-trick however his header just went a whisker wide of the left hand post.

Jordon Smith had yet again another chance to quadruple Glentanars lead after meeting a great cross from the same man again Lewis Stephen whose header went inches wide of the right hand post. Luck was to strike again from the hosts soon but from a different man.

That's because McDonald got his second in the 70th minute after Lewis Watson sent in another great ball which was met by forward Elliott McDonald who calmly slotted the ball past Bendel in the Westdyke goal to make sure they go a few miles up the road from Woodside to Pittodrie.

Fine contest between Glentanar duo at Cove Gala
The Annual Cove Gala Under 8 Final between Glentanar 1 and Glentanar 2 was always going to be a close affair. The defences and goalkeeper were on top in the first 5 minutes as they snuffed out chances and saved shots well.

It was a well-crafted goal in 7 minutes down the Glentanar 2 right hand side which got the opening goal and this was quickly followed by a second a minute later as a thunderbolt from just outside the box nestled in the top corner. With only seconds left of the first 15 minutes Glentanar 1 sprung into life as an attack down the left hand side was perfectly put across the goalmouth for an easy tap in at the back post.

Glentanar 1 came out the second half the quicker of the teams and took only 2 minutes to draw level. It then became a midfield battle with Glentanar 2 slowly getting the better ball but the resilient Glentanar 1 defence just would not fold.

It took a good move down the Glentanar 1 left to unlock the defence and a super shot was placed into the corner to put Glentanar 2 back in the lead 3-2. With 5 minutes left Glentanar 1 were awarded a penalty when the goalkeeper strayed from his box and this was expertly tucked away to once again bring the teams level.

The game was heading for penalties when a Glentanar 2 breakaway caught the Glentanar 1 defence sleeping and the resulting shot was superbly tucked into the corner to wrap up the game and although Glentanar through everything at the Glentanar 2 defence they held strong and held on the slender lead until the end.

It was a great day out for both teams with some great football played bust most importantly with great fun had.

Glentanar 1 – Reece Jonhston, Nathan Bloice, Boyd Gibson, Cooper Smith, Lewis Beattie, James Wallace, Josh Thomson

Glentanar 2 – Kieran Hurley, Ciaran Bloomer, Adam Garden, McKenzie Gove, William Almberg, Layton Fenty

Glentanar vs Bryon Rovers
ADJFA Under 13s

Glentanar took the lead in the first 5 minutes when a great ball was a great ball was crossed in by Patrick Cairns and Gregor Duncan headered in the game's opening goal. It was 2-0 inside 14 minutes as John Hall put his close range shot in the bottom right hand corner.

It became 3-0 in the 20th minute as Craig Mackie's shot went into the bottom left hand corner from 12 yards. And it was 4-0 inside 25 minutes as Glentanar showed some great passing and Patrick Cairn's shot went into the top corner from 10 yards.

Glentanar made sure they had a 5 goal cushion before half time as great ball was sent in by Gregor Duncan and it was flicked into his own net by Elliot Watt.

Half Time: Glentanar 5-0 Byron Rovers

Byron were a lot better in the 2nd half as they got advantage of the wind and they set about producing a comeback. The visitors brought the score back to 5-3 with goals from a Watt header 5 minutes into the 2nd half, then 15 minutes later Andy Scott hit a great strike into the top left hand corner from 30 yards. And the 3rd goal 5 minutes later as Cameron Hay drove past the Glentanar defence and put it in the bottom right hand corner from 16 yards.

But Glentanar won the game as John Hall  rounded the keeper for the simplest of finishes, then latched onto a great ball to put it into the bottom right hand corner.

Full Time: Glentanar 7-3 Byron Rovers

Glentanar have moved three points clear at the top of the Under 13s ADJFA League A. They go clear of nearest challenger's Dyce who have two games in hand as their game with Westdyke was called off due to the snow. Unfortunately it was bad news for Byron as they face relegation.
