The Scottish FA North Region will be holding a coaches PCS presentation on Wednesday 5th June at Mosset Park Forres, starting at 7:00pm. All coaches involved in the game a children’s and youth level are welcome to attend.
Positive Coaching Scotland (PCS) is a cultural change programme designed to create a positive environment for young people in sport. It was conceived to help address the number of young people dropping out of sport due to an over emphasis of the ‘win at all cost’ mentality prevalent in professional sports and increasing spilling over into youth sports.
The mission of PCS is ‘To recognise that through sport young people learn valuable life lessons. It challenges the win at all costs mentality and focuses on effort, learning from mistakes, respect, responsibility and success.’

Albion BC Under 15's met Peterhead Colts at a chilly Glenury Park this afternoon in the Stonehaven Youth Trophy final. The favourites, Albion, are league A champions, while Peterhead are one win away from being league B champions.
Richard Binnie looked to latch onto a ball over the top for Albion early on, but keeper Shaun Allen was off his line quickly to clear the danger. In the eighth minute, Peterhead’s Jonathan Duthie had an effort tipped around the post by Reece Duncan in goals.
The League B side were having a good opening spell, and Charlie Spellman nearly gave them the lead when he flashed a shot just past the post on 15 minutes. Albion then went straight up to the other end and Clark Scott was put through one-on-one. The striker’s attempted lob was well saved by Allen who was sharp off his line again.
In the 17th minute Albion grabbed the lead. Binnie was left unmarked at a corner and took full advantage, his bullet header going in off the post. Three minutes later it was 2-0. Mark Gilmour won possession on the right, battled to the by-line and cut the ball back for Scott who had an easy finish.
After a good start, Peterhead had now faded away a bit and Albion were dominant. Their third goal came in the 29th minute, and it was great link-up play between Gilmour and Scott once more. A long ball forward was flicked on by Gilmour, allowing Scott, who timed his run to perfection, to go clear. The striker kept his cool to slot past the keeper for his second of the match.
Just before half time Peterhead gave themselves a life-line as they pulled a goal back. Paul Duncan fired the ball across the face of goal and found Taylor Dawson waiting at the back post to finish it off.
Half Time: Albion BC 3-1 Peterhead BC Colts
Clark Scott was on the hunt for his hat trick right from the start of the second half, but his low drive was easily stopped by Allen. In the 48th minute, Peterhead’s Liam Mackie latched onto a ball over the top, and with the keeper rushing out, tried an audacious lob from 30 yards which bounced just wide.
Shaun Allen had been in fine form, and made another excellent save from a powerful header in the 56th minute.
Albion’s fourth goal did arrive shortly after though. Scott found himself all alone with the ball at his feet just a few yards out and blasted it goalwards. It looked as though the keeper had saved it for a moment but the sheer power of the shot carried it over the line and Scott claimed his deserved hat trick.
At 4-1, Peterhead looked dead and buried, but their heads didn’t go down, in fact they came back into the game and dominated for a spell. Aidan Buchan’s effort at the near post flew just wide on 69 minutes, before Mackie nearly scored direct from a corner two minutes later.
Just as it looked as though Peterhead would finish strongly though, three quick goals from Albion put three final nails in the League B side’s coffin. The first was a screamer from Dylan Smith on the right-hand side, leaving keeper with no chance. The second just a minute later was a low, close-range shot from Gilmour, who deserved a goal, having had a good game. Having opened the scoring, Richard Binnie then finished it with the last kick of the game, a superb low drive across the keeper from wide on the right.
All in all, a well deserved, and expected, victory for Albion, although the scoreline was somewhat harsh on the opposition. Peterhead put up a good fight and made things difficult for the League A champions. They dominated spells of the game but crucially couldn’t find the net in those spells and then caved in at the end. Albion will take confidence from the win as they look ahead to another cup final against Lewis United next week.

Clark Scott caused problems for Colts all day and thoroughly deserved his hat trick.
|
 |
| Shaun Allen put in a great shift, pulling off some really good saves and generally being a safe pair of hands. Can't be blamed for any of the goals. |

Andrew Milne, Coach of Albion, said: "I’m just absolutely delighted, the kids have been first class this year and I think they’re getting their just rewards. Started off a bit slow today though I thought, but we are getting better. It’s unusual because we haven’t really been in many cup finals, last year we didn’t actually win anything so we’ve now won the league, and this cup, and obviously we’ve got the cup final against Lewis Utd coming up next week which all the boys are probably thoroughly looking forward to. Maybe a bit of nerves at the start today but they did the job in the end so we’re absolutely delighted."
He continued: "I think Peterhead actually put up a really good fight today. The end result probably flattered us just ever so slightly, they maybe just ran out of a bit of puff, but we’ll take it." |
 |
Graeme Mackie, Coach of Peterhead, said: "The result flatters Albion a bit, 7-1, we were looking quite solid at 3-1 as well. I think the loons did us proud, I’m really pleased with them. I couldn’t fault the effort that the team put in, if we’d taken our chances early doors it could’ve been a different game."
Ally Marshall, Coach of Peterhead, said: "The guys have done really well getting this far, and barring the last 10 minutes, we gave them a really good game."

Over the past 5 years an Albion side who have enjoyed so much success over the years was to come to an era today but they managed to squeeze another trophy into the scrapbook to remember for everyone involved with Albion BC. However, this wasn't to go without a fright from Westdyke.
Westdyke started the game well and they didn't allow Albion to settle in the first 10 minutes at all. Louis Smith intercepted Macaulay Rae's interception before playing in Lewis Taylor however Taylor's first time effort went harmlessly wide.
The opening period of the game didn't contain much in the way of goalmouth chances however both sides were going at each other. Nobody could really create an opening with Westdyke looking the more dominant and more up for it.
Albion then had their first attack of the game which led to the ball hitting the back of the net. Chris Liversedge's free kick being met by Chris Davidson which hit the post and came to Macaulay Rae who rattled the ball home but was called offside.
Westdyke were to have another chance after a great ball came in by Ryan Clark which was met by Andrew Bremner however Berton managed to hold onto the ball.
The final chance of what was a really quiet half came when Devin Kennedy-Colbert sent in a good corner from the left hand side which was met by Jack Smith. Smith half-volleyed it goalwards but it was blocked away by Craig McLennan.
Half Time: Albion BC 0-0 Westdyke BC
The Albion coaching staff knew it wasn't going right and made a half time substitution with Greg Watson coming off for Josh Milne. The second half started and Westdyke looked the better side once again looking more organised and once again looking like they were going to get their hands on the cup which would have been their first cup success in three seasons.
If the ex Scottish Cup winners knewif their era as a side together was to end in success then they knew something had to change and so it did. Albion looked better and more attack minded, Harry Milne fired a free kick at goal which was held by Jordan Cheyne in the Westdyke goal.
Albion then got a the opening goal in the 58th minute. Chris Liversedge sent in a pinpoint ball which was met by forward Jack Smith who then kept a cool head to slot past Cheyne from 10 yards out.
The league winners were looking more comfortable and after the goal there looked like there being only one winner, but Westdyke had other ideas. The underdogs looked at the weaknesses of Albion and pounced on any mistakes which they did make. Nico Berton's kick took a bobble and Lewis Taylor was able to take full advantage and put the ball into an empty net to level the scores.
With the game just four minutes away from the final whistle, it looked like going into extra time, but Albion were hungry and didn't want to come out of the losing side. A great ball came in by Chris Liversedge which was met by Macaulay Rae, after a loose ball came into the area, and the Albion skipper was able to slide it in.
Albion had one more chance before the final whistle after Chris Davidson had a shot which was saved by the goalkeeper, but it didn't affect Albion and they were able to celebrate getting the double and close off what has been a remarkable five years. The boys in red have won five league titles, a Scottish Cup and left their mark on Aberdeenshire & District Juveniles FA football for many years to come.
