A girls’ football team in Perth have got a brand new sponsored kit after winning a nationwide competition organised by Scottish cloud computing company iomart Hosting (click here to view website).
Jeanfield Swift Girls wrote more than 100 begging letters to local businesses to get sponsorship for a much needed new kit for their U11s team, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. Now, their dream of a new kit has come true after they entered and won Host Your Kit, a competition to win a brand new adidas team kit, run by iomart Hosting.
The Glasgow-headquartered cloud computing company launched Host Your Kit earlier this year to help youth football teams across the UK that were struggling to find sponsorship in the current financial climate. Teams have to explain by email or video why their team deserves a new kit. Jeanfield Swift Girls made a music video showing how their existing kit was too old and didn’t fit properly and how a new kit would help them play better.
Jane Robertson, marketing manager for iomart Hosting, said: “Host Your Kit received hundreds of entries but the judges were very impressed by the Jeanfield Swift Girls’ video and the story they told us about their struggle to raise funds. This top quality adidas kit is a great reward for the players and the coaches for their hard work, determination and incredibly positive outlook.”
A year ago Jeanfield Swift Girls Under 11s had just eight players. Local women Donna Shaw and Laura Barnett stepped in as coaches and encouraged more girls to get involved. There is now a squad of almost 20 players and it is one of the most passionate and well supported Under 11s teams in Scotland.

We were really disappointed when we didn’t hear back from local businesses but now, thanks to iomart Hosting, our girls can walk onto the pitch with their heads held high. Winning Host Your Kit has brought all the Jeanfield Swift parents and players together and made us feel really special.”
Scotland and Glasgow City player Emma Fernon is Host Your Kit’s ambassador. She said: “I spend a lot of time promoting girls’ football across Scotland and I know that Jeanfield Swift is a fantastic little team. The players are proof that football is a great way to give young girls confidence and inspire them to a healthy and active lifestyle. I hope their new sponsored kit gives them a fantastic boost for the season to come.”
Jeanfield Swift is the first team to have won a new kit as part of iomart Hosting’s Host Your Kit giveaway. In all 30 youth football teams across Scotland, England and Wales will receive an iomart Hosting sponsored adidas football kit for 14 outfield players and one goalkeeper via the company’s partnership with sports retailer Greaves Sports.
Phil Worms, Director of Marketing for iomart Hosting, added: “As a leading cloud computing company we host the data and web applications for many successful businesses across the UK and with 2012 being such a massive year for sport we can now be the best host for football kits too.”
Sandy Greaves, Managing Director of Greaves Sports, said: “We’re delighted to be a partner in this great football kit giveaway with iomart Hosting. We hope the Jeanfield Swift Girls are inspired to even greater success by wearing a top quality football strip.”
