The festive season brought cheer to the Under 16 squad of Mill United, who were kindly donated a set of brand new Adidas rain jackets (pictured, above) by sponsor Mark Kelso Plasterers, Roughcasters and Building Solutions.
The new kit comes off the back of a fantastic year of progress for the squad. On the verge of folding at one point last season, a new coaching setup led by Lee McCafferty took the helm at the Hamilton outfit. McCafferty started his own career with nine years at Mill, before progressing to the professional ranks with Hibernian, Hamilton Accies, Motherwell and Queen of the South.
McCafferty said: "I've always had a great affinity with the club and didn't want to see this age group folding as the boys where at a crucial stage not only in terms of their football but at school and life in general. Football is a fantastic way of keeping young men focused and on the correct path."
The side had a rollercoaster of highs and lows throughout last season but are now moving from strength to stength, including fantastic support from numerous local business men which enabled us to purchase two new sets of strips, tracksuits, polo shirts, training gear, jackets and bags (all Adidas).
The coach continued: "We run a professional set up and have attracted a few more real quality players to our squad and this season we have really started well. We where extremely unlucky to go out in penalties in the Scottish Cup third round up in Aberdeen but have bounced back to continue our excellent league form which sees us sitting in fourth place with two games in hand and still In every other competition and looking forward to the second half of the season.
