Blantyre Boys Club and Milton Rovers drew 3-3 as they shared the spoils in their under 15s Lanarkshire Development League match at Hamilton Palace on Sunday.
Blantyre went into the match looking for a return to winning ways having lost their last two matches to EK Burgh and Dalziel Boys Club, while Milton Rovers were looking to extend their unbeaten run to four matches having beat both EK Burgh and Dalziel and drew with Mill United in their last three games.
Despite finishing 3-3, the game was a tight affair with neither team giving much their counterparts time and space in the midfield. Ross Lyons opened the scoring for Blantyre shooting low into the far corner. Reece Palmer equalised for Milton Rovers from the penalty spot, before Owen Foster put Milton 2-1 with a fierce strike.
Jamie Drummond equalised for Blantyre five minutes before half time. Robbie Cox put Milton back in front ten minutes into the second half, before Nathyn McKecknie completed the scoring and levelled the game midway through the second half.
The first chance of the game fell to Blantyre four minutes in. Lyons fired a powerful shot at goal, however Andy Cummings got down well to his near post to beat the ball away.
A quick counter attack saw the second chance of the game also fall to Blantyre. The Blantyre defence broke down a Milton attack and the ball found its way to Nathyn McKecknie on the left wing who ran up the line but shot straight at Cummings.
Blantyre scored the opening goal of the game on 16 minutes. Ross Lyons fired the ball towards the far post from the right hand side of the area. Cummings got a hand to it, however the shot was too powerful and the ball found the corner of the net.
Ten minutes after going behind, Milton drew themselves level. A throw in down the right hand side found its way to Joshua Bell inside the box. The Blantyre defence cleared the ball, however the referee judged that Bell was fouled in the process and duly pointed to the spot. Reece Palmer stepped up to slot the ball in the bottom left hand corner.
Four minutes later Milton took the lead after a good move down the right hand side. Robbie Cox received the ball on the right wing near the half way line, he beat his man and drove forward but slipping a neat through ball to Owen Foster who smashed the ball into the top corner to give his side a 2-1 lead.
Milton's lead did not last very long however as Blantyre drew level soon after. Attacking down the left, Blantyre managed to force the ball into the area and Jamie Drummond managed to stab the ball into the back of the net via the post from around 8 yards out. Drummond's strike meant the league leaders were level going into half time.

Blantyre had their first chance of the second half when they got a corner after 47 minutes. The ball was swung in towards the near post and came off the head of a defender and sent the ball over the keeper towards the far post. Lyons leapt to meet the ball however his header went over the bar and the score remained 2-2.
A few minutes later Milton regained the lead after a good finish from Cox. Joshua Bell received the ball and ran at the Blantyre defence, he spotted a gap and slipped the ball through to the onrushing Cox who lifted the ball over the advancing goalkeeper and into the net to give Milton a 3-2 lead.
Midway through the half Blantyre drew level once more. McKecknie received the ball on the left wing and dribbled towards goal beating several players in the process before finding himself one on one with Cummings in the Milton goal. He calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper into the bottom corner to score what was a fantastic solo goal.
Soon after McKecknie had a chance a great chance to give his side the lead. Lyons played a through ball into the path of McKecknie however his chip over the goalkeeper under pressure from the defence drifted just wide of the far post.
With score 3-3 neither team really pushed forward in search of a winner, the final twenty minutes turned in to a midfield battle with both teams unwilling to leave possible gaps that could lead to the opposition scoring a winner. The game petered out with no real chances and in the end the draw seemed a fair result.

Nathyn McKecknie was a menace to the Milton defence. Every time he got the ball he was direct and ran straight at the defence. He also scored a brilliant solo goal.
Robbie Cox showed some great trickery and skills on the ball, set up one goal and scored another with a decent chip over the keeper. A good days work.

Undoubtedly McKecknie's goal. Received the ball on the left hand touch line and jinked his way past several defenders before finishing one on one with the goalkeeper from 6 yards out.
This one was tough as both second and third goals were the end product of good moves. I've went for the second goal scored by Foster and set up by Cox. Cox received the ball close to the half way line, beat his man and ran at the defence before sliding a pass through to Foster who smashed the ball high into the net from the corner of the box. Great finish giving the keeper no chance.
