East Kilbride FC Under 20’s produced an excellent second-half display, fighting back from 2-0 down to claim a point against top of the table Spartans in the East of Scotland Under-20 development league in an enthralling Friday night encounter at K-Park.
An early strike from Dylan Tait, and a George Taylor free-kick just before half-time gave the visitors a strong half-time advantage, before Kilby hit back with a fine display after the break, with goals from Ryan McEwan and Ross McKechnie.
Spartans twice tested Kilby keeper Martin McCabe early, before Tait struck a rebound from close range to open the scoring on eighteen minutes.
The visitors continued to have the better of the first half and doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time, through top scorer George Taylor, who fired a low free-kick past McCabe, after a soft award on the edge of the box.

Stewart Anderson’s half-time EK team talk seemed to do the trick, and the home side hit back three minutes into the second half, when the outstanding Ryan McEwan climbed highest to power a Jordan Craig delivery into the net.
East Kilbride took great heart from the goal and began to enjoy much more possession, pushing the visitors back, and were rewarded fifteen minutes from time, when the impressive Ross McKechnie weaved his way in from the right touch-line, past three players before unleashing a left footed strike low into the net.
Both sides could have won it in a pulsating finale, which was a great advert for the Friday development league, entertaining a healthy K-Park crowd, and the spoils were shared.
