  • Forth Valley FDA League Cup - Final
Milton BC Bruce started the Under 14s Forth Valley FDA League Cup Final off in style as they went straight in for the attack. An attempt by Joseph McGuckin in the first minute gave Milton the desire they needed to go on and win the trophy. The first goal of the match came in the 6th minute after Ryan Hamilton latched onto a free kick, taken from deep in Milton's own half, and headed it into the net.
Not long after the first goal, Milton looked to be going 2-0 up within 12 minutes as Rory Price took a free kick which went high and wide over the goal. The Wasps first attempt of the game came after Michael McQueen's shot also went wide of the goal. Milton then went straight up to the Wasps goal but Ryan Hamilton's shot went wide.
McQueen had another brilliant shot that was saved by Milton's keeper, Luke McGregor. Milton's second goal then came in the 25th minute and from a counter attack after the Wasps saved shot. Price pounced onto the ball that was cut back so he could easily tap it in and give Milton a two goal lead. Ryan McCarthy-Lee looked to get the Wasps back into the game after his direct free kick flew into McGregor's hands.
After four consecutive corners for Milton, all taken by Christopher McLaughlin, a third goal was scored just before half time by McGuckin. The ball came into the box from the final corner of the half, and McGuckin latched onto the loose ball inside the box. Just as the Wasps had kicked off, the referee blew the whistle to signal an end to this half.

Wasps were determined to turn things around and control the second half. After making Milton work for the ball, Connor Ross was forced to leave the pitch after coming off worse in a tackle. In the 45th minute, Milton increased their lead to 4. Price scored his second of the game after a one-on-one with Wasp goalkeeper Aaron Honeyman. Price was played in after an excellent pass before beating the keeper to win the match.
The Wasps star player McQueen then went into an attack. McQueen swiftly stole the ball from under Alexander Stewart's feet, and had a chance to soften the Wasps defeat by scoring. Unfortunately, the shot was blocked by James Dougan and the chance was gone.
The first and only yellow card came after McCarthy-Lee was involved in a crunching tackle with Price but McCarthy-Lee simply shook off the injury and continued on with the match. Milton's captain Aiden McKeown has his first chance of the game when his header went just over the bar. Hamilton then had two shots on target, the first being saved by Honeyman and the second going just wide of the post. The chance to increase their 4 goal lead slipped past Milton.
A last attempt for the Wasps to take something from this game fell to Craig Douglas. Douglas took a weak shot that went straight into McGregor's hands. Allen was hoping to get his second on the match but the shot was headed over the bar by Wasps Harris McGrath.

Star Player
Milton BC Bruce
Wasp Community Club
Rory Price stood out and was undoubtedly my star player for Milton BC. Price played a number of excellent passes and also grabbed himself two goals, which gave Milton the confidence they needed to win the cup. Price was an outstanding team player and deserved to score two goals.
Michael McQueen was the star player for Wasp Community Club. Although McQueen failed to get on the score sheet, he had a number of brilliant chances and was unlucky that none went into the net. McQueen continued to attack goal and had a couple of close calls, the Milton goalkeeper just keeping them out. McQueen deserved to score a goal after all his chances.
Magic Moment

Milton's second goal was a piece of football magic. The entire team managed to work together and take advantage of the Wasps mistake prior to the goal. The passing by the team to create the goal, which Price managed to get on the end of, was exceptional.
McQueen was able to simply take the ball from under Stewart's feet and then go for goal. Although his shot was blocked, McQueen managed to get away from his defender quickly and effectively create a chance to get his team back into the game.
