The Scottish Cup Champions were back tonight to show their style and grace. After an incredible 5-0 trouncing of their last opponents in that final, Rossvale were not going to become another victim nor make it easy picking for Accies at this league game.

The teams were set and Rossvale were happy to take centre.

A very slow start from the Accies team saw very little goalmouth activity in the first 20 minutes. A period of time that Accies are usually in TOTAL control.

A couple of free kicks threatened the rossvale back line and duffy through on goal a few times.

The cup hangover was at risk of spoiling the league title dream.

Duffy and Smith unlucky not to score the opener with several attempts however Rossvale were on form to intercept. With Thomson on and still 10 mins to play in the first half he was  unlucky not to get the opener when his shot cracked the cross bar.

As the cobwebs were blowing in the wind the Accies were starting to penetrate the Rossvale defense, a few more chances created however nothing like the dominant performance on the Sunday. Fortunately the back 4 were solid - reliable - consistent. No way through for Rossvale.

Adam Byor McKeown on and a few changes of position allowed him an opportunity to stretch his legs. and that he did running his socks off. In the dying seconds of the first half, Thomson steam rolled down the right wing, gritty he turned into the box. rossvale throwing themselves at his feet. Even at that the big striker would not give in. looking up - Smith & Duffy sprinting into the box in anticipation only to see the lone rossvale intercept for what was a certain opener.

Yet again the last ditch defending denied the Accies.

Half Time: Accies 0-0 Rossvale

Half time the coach had something to say about the slow performance & were ordered to go and sort it.

If passion was to be on display they dug deep! If winning mentality had to be adopted, then it was in their own heads. this was no Scottish cup - but a job had to be done.

Smith linking with Mooney Thomson & Douglas he was instrumental on the line. The little magician weaving his work more impressively than the Bayuex Tapestry. But this was no wall carpet display - this was the real McCoy.

Infact it was his cross following interlinking play and a very important interception that allowed him the cut back cross that found the feet of Douglas.

The on form striker allowed time for himself to seek out the only space in the goal, waited momentarily to ensure he saw the keepers move. As the goalie dived to his right Douglas pinged the shot low and hard - his hands raised in celebration even before the ball hit the net - this lad confident in his ability - a guaranteed goal. spinning away the celebrations were yet again modest.

Full Time: Accies 1-0 Rossvale
