Cumbernauld were pushed all the way in this league fixture to maintain there unbeaten league record so far. The games between these two sides have produced close matches with not much the sides. The home side made a great start in the first minute went ahead after Connor Mcateer latched onto a through ball and cooly finished the move off.
Moorlands nearly equalised immediately but for a point blank save from Ewan Walker. The visitors continued to test the home side which saw them just miss with a looping header and also Mark Anthony Byrne cleared in the six yard box from a corner.
Colts came close to doubling there lead however Josh Devine saw his effort fly over. Cammy McKay was next to threaten the moorlands goal and his direct free kick hit the bar and went over. The same player just missed out but found the angle to tight with his shot. Moorland missed a great chance to equalise after there striker was one on one with colts goalkeeper but took a bad touch and the chance passed.
That gave Cumbernauld the impetus and saw them double there advantage after Cammy McKay made it 2-0 scoring against his former side.
Half Time: Cumbernauld Colts 2-0 Moorlands
Colts made the better start to the 2nd half and saw a Mikey Mcgarahan strike from 20 yds come back off a post and McKay missed with the rebound.
Moorlands followed that up with a counter attack which saw the finish hit the side net. They pressed hard to get back in the match and Josh Devine had a last gasp tackle to prevent them doing so. Colts should have wrapped up the points when a Sam Rodger cross saw mark brown pass up the easy oppurtunity to score. He also had a half chance from a header from a Mcateer cross ball.
Another cross ball left Mcgarahan disappointed seeing it go wide of the target. Devine then squared across goal but with no one able to see the ball into the net.
The away side set up a tense finish after a Ewan Walker mistimed punch had the ball come back off the post and gave moorlands a tap in to get them back in the match. The away side should have equalised when once again they found themselves through one on one with Walker but he made amends for his mistake.
Colts ran out narrow winners in the end which I'm sure left Moorlands disappointed they didn't take something from the game.
