Colts and Blantyre lined up at Gasworks Park Larkhall, home of Larkhall Thistle Juniors, for their L.F.D.A. League Cup Semi Final.
Weather conditions were perfect with no wind and the pitch was looking good. Colts started the game on the front foot and had Blantyre pinned back in their own half, final ball was letting the Colts down and the Blantyre keeper was not being tested.
Blantyre took the lead against the run of play when a defensive error allowed the Blantyre number 8 to get a run on the keeper. Scotty McLuggage brought the forward down in the box and Blantyre scored the penalty, it was slotted low into Scotty's bottom left hand corner to make it 1-0 to Blantyre.
Colts kept the heads up and kept pressing making chance after chance and the equaliser came just before half time, Darren Park played a great ball into the box and Declan Campbell outfought his marker before calmly slotting the ball into the keepers left hand corner with the outside of his foot.
Half Time: Burnhead Colts 1-1 Blantyre BC
Colts totally dominated the second half and missed several chances before taking the lead, a good ball from Jack Adam found Enrico Janetta who beat 2 men and rounded the keeper before cooly slotting into the empty net to make it 2-1.
Colts got a third when the busy Ben Fitzpatrick fired a great shot from 18 yards into the corner of the net to make it 3-1.
Goal number 4 soon followed when Lewis Murdoch found Dylan McLuskey who fired a great finish high into the net from a tight angle.
Colts rounded of the scoring when M.O.M. Callum McCaig fired home from 25 yards beating the keeper low in his right hand corner.
Well done to the Colts for a fine Victory. Commiserations to Blantyre who fought hard and did not give up. Good luck for the rest of the season.
