U14's Knockout Cup - Semi Final
24 March 2014
Wet underfoot conditions and a fierce wind threatened to ruin this cup semi-final.
Calderbraes chose to play the first half with the wind at their backs hoping to score a few goals to ease the tension, however some plucky defending by a resolute Gartcairn side ensured this didn't materialise.
The only goal of the first half being scored by Calderbraes' Anthony McGuire after some fine wing play by Lewis Weir.
The only other notable action from the first half being a superb save from Braes' keeper Jordan Skelton to keep the score at 1-0.
Gartcairn would be entitled to think the second half would belong to them with the wind now at their backs, however League leaders Calderbraes upped their game and recorded a further 4 goals through McGuire, Robbie Queen, CJ Paccitti and Jack 'Jinky' Johnstone to make the final score 5-0 and reach their second cup final of the season.
Full Time: Calderbraes 5-0 Gartcairn
