This week we had another home game against Mill Unitedand we were keen to make up for the last game a month ago when we lost narrowly.  We were playing at Kirktonholme and it was a heavy park with the recent rain, but despite that the weather on the day was clear and there was even some sun.
We started strongly passing the ball about well and completed a dozen passes without Mill United touching the ball until we got into their box. From the clearance we surged forward and a Jack Little shot was pushed out for a corner by the Mill United goalkeeper.
We kept up the pressure and a push wide on the right gave us a freekick. Instead of firing it into the box Ross McGurk played it wide to CJ who took the ball in and then sent in a great dipping shot at the back post which the Mill United goalkeeper could do nothing about to put us one up after 5 minutes.
From the restart we surged forward and Jack Little got round the goalkeeper but an alert Mill United defender nipped to clear the danger.
Mill United then had their first chance after about 15 minutes but Ben Macallister came out well and smothered the ball.
CJ, Kyle Caig and Euan Aitken combined well before Euan Aitken was brought down for a freekick midway into the Mill United half. Ross McGurk set up Euan Aitken from the freekick, who was clear in the middle of the penalty box and brought down by a kick in the chest but the referee was unsighted and allowed play to go on.
A Euan Aitken flick set up CJ but the Mill United keeper a full stretch managed to knock the ball up into the air and gather it at the second attempt. From the clearance CJ won the ball back and set up a Mitchell Craig shot which was well taken by the Mill United keeper.
We then played some quick passes with a good 1-2 between Jack McKenna and Mitchell Craig, then onto CJ who cut it back to Jack McKenna who was brought down on the edge of box. The ball broke to Euan Aitken who was brought down in the box, but no penalty was given as the referee had already awarded a freekick outside the box. Jack Little took the freekick which dipped over the wall and into the bottom corner giving the goalkeeper no chance.
Shortly after Jack McKenna was brought down at the edge of the box but this time the freekick from Jack Little was taken by the goalkeeper.
Half Time: EKFC Gold 2-0 Mill United
The second half started in a similar manner with successive attacks being cleared for corners, but we were unable to capitalise on these.
Mill United raised their game and for a spell we were under some pressure mainly from through balls which were being dealt with by Lewis Easton and Callum Grassom, or occasionally when it got past them being cleared up by Ben Macallister.
But during this spell we were still having some breaks forward with the best chance coming from some interplay between Jack McKenna and Jack Little before the ball broke free and Euan Aitken managed to get a foot to the ball only to see it coming back off the post.
Mill United had a couple of good chances after this with one being cleared by Lewis Easton and the other when a calm Callum Grassom giving the Mill United forward a good 3 yard start caught and tackled him before passing the ball out of defence.
Despite this sustained 10 minute spell Mill United never got anything from our defence, and the rest of the match was pretty evenly balanced. CJ and Jack McKenna combined well to get a corner which CJ took and the ball was cleared back out to the corner when CJ crossed back in for the ball to fly through everyone without getting a final touch.
Another great result where we have built on the better performances of recent weeks, where we have played some excellent football and is also our third clean sheet in a row.
Man of the Match: Callum Grassom
