The match was played on a really heavy pitch. The Kirkwood coaching staff had been sweeping water away for 2 hours prior to kick off. FC Kirkwood went ahead with a goal of the season contender. Chris Mc Cormack picked the ball up in midfield and passed the ball wide to Nicky Croall. Nicky Croall cut the ball across the Balloch Eastfield box and Scott Ballantyne arrived at the back post to smash a cracking volley home FC Kirkwood 1-0 up after 2 mins.

The match was evenly contested and Balloch Eastfield deservedly drew level after 25 mins after a scramble in the Kirkwood goalmouth. 1-1 at half time.

At the start of the second half FC Kirkwoods Mathew O'Hagan should have been sent off after a last man tackle on the Balloch forward. The referee did not give the decision. 10 mins into the second half FC Kirkwood went ahead after a scramble in the Balloch goalmouth.

The match could have went either way but with 10 mins left FC Kirkwood got a free kick 20 yards out. Kyle the Kirkwood centre half stepped up and smashed a 25 yarder goalwards. The Balloch keeper fumbled due to the conditions and FC Kirkwood were 3-1 up.

With 2 minutes remaining Balloch were awarded a penalty even although the infringement took place outside of the box. The Balloch player stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way. 3-2 FC Kirkwood.

The game finished 3-2 and it was a credit to bot the sets of players.Right on full time Balloch Eastfield had a player sent off for dissent as they chased an equaliser.
