This was a top of the table clash. An old fashioned 6 pointer...

The game started at a very good tempo with Blantyre starting their passing game well and for best part of the first 15 minutes the game was played in the Larkhall area. Larkhall picked up by playing a long ball game which did get them quickly up the park but with no end result in the early stages.  Blantyre stuck to their passing game and created 3 or 4 very good chances down the left through left midfielder Tom McEntee with one chance hitting the crossbar and another hit the post...

Blantyre was then hit with a sucker punch as Larkhall's sweeper cleared a long ball over the top which allowed Larkhall's striker to run onto the ball flicking a header over the advancing Blantyre keeper into the empty net. 1-0 Larkhall...

The first half then became a good battle with Larkhall mainly keeping to the long ball tactics and Blantyre keeping their discipline trying to play football on the ground.  Within 5 minutes left of the first half Blantyre got their rewards with an equalizer from Captain Calum Donnelly and the half finished 1-1.

Half Time: Blantyre SA 1-1 Larkhall United

With no changes made by either team Larkhall started the second half stronger and more physical.  Larkhall took the lead again when they delivered a good deep corner from the left side to the back post which was met nicely and headed into the Blantyre net... 2-1 Larkhall.

For the next ten minutes Blantyre worked hard to get back in the game.  With Larkhall tiring they made 3 quick changes.  Blantyre then got a grip of the game again with a couple of changes themselves and from a well worked short corner which gave Scott McKean the equaliser with an excellent individual goal... Blantyre with their tails up went for the winner and got the reward through a well headed goal from Jack Lyons.

A very good top of the table clash from both teams.
