Home game today down at Wishaw Sports Centre against Dalziel BC in a cup game who are in the league above on what turned out to be a very brisk, sunny morning.

The first half was pretty much an even game with both teams playing through the middle and it was from that area which nearly lead to our first goal with Ross Park on his debut beating his man and running through only for the keeper to stick out his leg to deny him his first goal for the club. Later Chris Buick at centre half had to be taken off and replaced with Craig Raybould due to complaining of a sore chest and we hope he has a quick recovery. With that there was few chances with Chris , Blair and Barra kept pretty busy in midfield and the defence of Matthew, Craig, Ross and Callum keeping it tight at the back to see out the first half.
Half Time: Wishaw Central BC 0-0 Dalziel BC

At the start of the second half we introduced Morgan to replace Barrra to try and inject a bit more pace up front and push for goals. Before we could adjust to our new formation Dalziel again pushing through from the middle hit a lovely ball through our defence and their striker had an easy finish to put them one up.
We then brought on Andrew for his height and power to replace Blair to help out Chris in the middle and win the battle for midfield as Dalziel had a strong presence in that area. With the game running into the last third a great run down the left wing by Ross Park turned his man and hit over a pin point cross to Morgan in the box, where he took a touch, controlled and hit a shot into the back of the net at the near post to get us level and game back on.
We now replaced Dylan Gibson due to a knee problem with Gavin Young on the left and put Connor Bohan on the right wing which resulted in both boys taking the pressure from the middle and both played some great football up and down the flanks. Wishaw now started to push forward with Craig Raybould urging the boys on playing from the back and trying to find space to play the ball into the last third of the opposition half.
With more attacking play we started to force more corners and connor picked out Andrew who hit a lovely downward header but was saved by the keeper. Ross Park also was again unlucky when he hit a shot in the box which was goal bound all the way when some-how the keeper pulled off a fantastic save. Morgan also was unlucky not to add to his earlier goal when he beat his marker on the run to hit a great shot which beat the keeper but hit the right hand post and then went out of play.
After all this pressure and great play it came down to the man of the moment in his first game for the club to decide the out-come of the game. A pass from midfield was controlled by Ross Park with his back to goal and in one fluent movement he turned and hit a shot on the volley from out-side the box which blasted into he top right hand corner of the goal which gave the keeper no chance and i'll be very surprised if i see a better goal all season, brilliant.
A few minutes later the ref blew for full time and with the attitude of never giving up it showed why we have progressed so far this season. Well done boys, it was a hard game against a good team and you should all be very proud of your performance. Man of the match today was Ross Park on what was an excellent first game for his new team.
