Albion Rovers
U19's Central Region Cup Semi-Final
28 February 2014
Albion started the game well and pressurized Finnart for the first 15 minutes of the game and were rewarded when McCallum put them one up after good work by Banks and Meechan.
Albion pressed and were rewarded for their good work when after a corner Banks put them two up. Albion looked the better team throughout the first 30 minutes and again after good link up play Banks got his second and Albions third.
Albion were dealt a blow when after his second yellow card McIntosh was sent off with ten minutes left of the second half.
With Half Time fast approaching Finnart pulled one back to go in at Half Time 3-1 down.
Half Time: Albion Rovers 3-1 Finnart
Second Half and Finnart made a few personel changes and started the better and against the ten men of Albion they pressed and were awarded a Free Kick just outside the box, they converted the Free Kick to make the score 3-2 and they were back in the game.
Finnart made the extra man pay off and pressed Albion back and this resulted in Hastie trying to clear from the back but he passed the ball into his own net this made the game level.
A spark of brilliance from Banks put Albion back into the lead when he noticed an opportunity from just inside the Finnart half and shoot at goal, the Finnart Goalkeeper could not hold the attempt and the ball ended up in the net. Albion were back in the lead 4-3.
With seconds remaining Finnart pushed for the equaliser and would have been rewarded but a brilliant save by McAllister kept Albion in the lead.
Albion will now face Campsie Black Watch in the Final in June.
Man of the Match David Banks.
Full Time: Albion Rovers 4-3 Finnart
