Calderbraes came into the match knowing a victory against their nearest rivals would be enough to win the league title.

The match started on a very heavy pitch not suiting to good football with Calderbraes on the front foot pushing forward creating some good chances with Higgins and Gribbons coming close.
A good move by Woods, Hunter and Scott midway through the first half led to a corner. Higgins sent over a fine inswinging ball which caused panic in the New Stevenston defence and in the resulting scramble Scott remained cool under pressure to fire home from close range.
Calderbraes were playing some good stuff but New Stevenston were always a threat on the break. A long ball from defence caught out the Calderbraes defence and Sloane ran through on goal but the chance was snuffed out by Nisbet in the Calderbraes goal who was quickly off his line to block the shot.
The first half ended without either keeper being tested further.

Into the 2nd half and Calderbraes upped their game and took a grip of the match several good chances for a second came and went.
Calderbraes were moving the ball well and it was fitting that the best piece of football in the match led to a 2nd goal for Calderbraes. A fine move involving some slick passing from Hunter, Higgins and Gribbons in the midfield resulted in Duffy putting in Pollock. His excellent cross was met by Woods who scored with a superb diving header at the near post giving the keeper no chance.
Calderbraes were now in total control and looked to have gone further ahead when Pollock finished well from close range. His joy was short lived as the referee blew for offside.
New Stevenston were still a threat and forced a fine save from substitute goalkeeper Love from a 25 yard free kick.
Calderbraes then shut up shop and saw the game out with some fine defending from man of the match Devine and Cross who snuffed out the threat from the dangerous Sloane.
The final whistle went for a deserved win for Caldebraes and was met with great celebrations from the Calderbraes boys and fans as they clinched their first ever league title and remain unbeaten in the league this season.
