Larkhall sneak past EKFC Blue in Cup

Larkhall United FC
 vs
EKFC Blue

U13's Central Region Cup 4th Round
Venue
19 February 2014

This game was re-arranged from 2 week's previous due to a waterlogged pitch and then EKFC playing in a Scottish Cup tie versus Hutchison Vale. The weather again was far from perfect but thankfully the grass pitch held up well to allow the game to go ahead.

The opening exchanges were slightly nervy but both teams looked evenly matched with most of the action in the middle third.

Twelve minutes in saw the deadlock broken, after a quick break down the Larkhall left flank, the EKFC right-back put in a good tackle only for the ball to break inside to Larkhall centre midfielder Callum Miller, who took a touch out of his feet and let fly with a sweetly struck 25 yard swerving shot, which deceived the EKFC goalkeeper and flew into the back of the net.

The rest of the first half continued to be an entertaining and even contest with both teams competing well and calling on their keepers to make some important stops.

Half Time: Larkhall United 1-0 EKFC Blue

The second half saw EKFC up the tempo of their play and started to pin Larkhall in their own half at times with some good attacking play but left them open to some counter-attacks but Larkhall failed to capitalise.

A combination of missed chances and some excellent defending from the whole Larkhall team meant the one goal made the difference in the end.
