Albion Rovers were sitting top of the tree in the LFDA 19's league not losing one game all season and only drawing 1-1 with league rivals Larkhall. Blantyre lost 3-0 to Rovers on the opening day and were still hurting from that defeat although they were still on a winning run that had them sitting 3rd in the same league as Rovers which made this last 32 crunch even more interesting.

Both teams had lots of chances throughout the game hitting the woodwork many times and both keepers having to pull of some wonderful saves.

It was towards the end of the game when what would turn out to be BSA's winner would be scored when Declan Gaffney’s free kick took a slight deflection and bounced beyond the Albion keeper to send the Blantyre crowd wild.

The home team stuck tight and solid at the back and saw the result out which meant there name would be in the draw for the next round along with some of the giants of this age group including Bonnybridge, EKFC Gold, West Park and North Merchiston which is more than impressive for a team that was only started only five to six months ago
