Falkirk FC 15's secured the league title today with a comfortable victory over Bonnyrigg Rose. The maths were simple the girls win the game the league title was coming to Falkirk.

The game started off well and the early pressure was creating good chances however missed target or the keeper was on hand to mop up easily this was the way of things for the first 15mins or so, however the goal looked to be coming and when KerryAnne ghosted through the defence and squared the ball to Sam her shot was net bound from impact, a deserved lead. When KerryAnne received the ball at the edge of the box she skipped past the defence and placed the ball past the keeper to double the girls lead.

The second half saw an improved display by the Bairns and chances were coming thick and fast, it was the impressive Rose keeper who was to keep them in the game, however Kim was to get on the scoreline when she drove high over the keeper for Falkirk's third leaving the keeper no chance. It may have been Sunshine on Leith, however it was torrential at Westfield however that wasn't going to dampen the girls spirits and when Fern crossed in for KerryAnne's second from a close range header, it was a matter of how many, Leah was to see her deflected shot from the edge of the box sneak in a back post and minutes later a shot over the advancing keeper was to give Leah her 2nd and the teams 6th, Fern was at last to get on the scoresheet with a shot under the keeper from close range, this all set up the climax of the game for captain Jess to score the teams 8th with her last touch at 15's, her next job was to raise the League Championship Trophy for Falkirk's biggest 11 a side trophy to date.

Falkirk will look back on an excellent season and although the girls needed to wait until the last game of the season, it was fitting that they were to win it. As the best defence and strikeforce in the league the purists will agree with the final league table with the Falkirk Bairns on 1st place.

There have been many highlights over the season and without doubt the memories of this seasons campaign will remain with all who were involved for a very long time, the late goal against Dunfermilne, the victory away to Hibs, the tight game at Murieston, that said the games where Falkirk were dominant were many, the team stayed as a team and the focus of winning the league never left them.
A word to the opposition, in particular Hibs and Spartans the 3 teams would have been worthy league winners, however Falkirk had something extra when it was needed, for second place Hibs and Spartans face each other twice in the next week in what will be competitive games we wish them both the best of luck. Not to forget to wish Hibs all the best in their Scottish Cup final appearance next weekend, a venue to be shared with our u13's four of which featured today.
