A gutsy performance saw the boys from Glasgow edge a feisty East vs West affair. Despite a slow start, two goals in the second half were enough to take Rossvale FC into the second round.
Rossvale entered into the match with seven key players missing, and their absence was evident as early as the first minute; Tranent Juniors struck the bar following a header from a throw in.
Six minutes later and this time the header did go between the posts, with Jack Kennedy the goalscorer. Rossvale had started slowly and Tranent punished their hosts clinically.
The next few minutes saw the visitors asking all the right questions, and pressing for a second goal but Rossvale managed to hold on to keep the score line at 1-0.
A crunching tackle by Ryan Smith in the 29th minute typified the boys from East Lothian's passion in the early stages of the game. A free header in the 32nd minute went narrowly wide and was Kennedy again, looking to increase his and Tranent's tally.
The half ended with Rossvale beginning to string passes together and create openings, coming back into the game.

Half Time: Rossvale FC 0-1 Tranent Juniors
The second half saw Rossvale come out of the blocks in a sprint. A quick counter attack in the 49th minute saw Sean McCall go on a mazy run, beat two defenders and cut the ball back to Conor Clarke for a tap in. The game was level and the outcome was back in the balance.
Rossvale came alive and were first to every ball, a totally different team to the one in the first half. Eight minutes later they reaped the rewards. Glen Stokes scored a stunning volley, reacting brilliantly and putting his team ahead.
A late flurry of activity from Tranent proved futile as Rossvale packed bodies in front of the goal and looked to pounce on the counter.
The home side countered to great effect five minutes from time and were awarded a penalty. Clarke stepped up and blasted the ball low and hard to the right of Alex Valenzuela, who somehow managed to parry it. A fantastic save.
The miss did not amount to much as the referee blew the whistle. Game over. Rosevale FC progress to the second round, where they will visit Glasgow neighbours Arsenal BC.

Sean McCall bossed the midfield, making his presence felt in every department.
Jack Kennedy put his team ahead early on in the game, was unlucky not to score a second. Was always an aerial threat.
Rossvale's manager complimented both teams for a good game of football, and heaped praise on his team for their comeback despite having so many players out and being a very young team.
The Tranent Juniors manager expressed his disappointment, claiming his boys didn’t match the effort of Rosevale FC and they are lot better than they showed on the day.
