PGBC 2005s

Due to some call offs this weekend the Port boys only had 2 teams at Notre Dame on Sunday morning, the boys are constantly learning and improving and the teamwork is paying off. The games involved defeats, draws and victories with fantastic effort from all boys, great goals from John Rodgers helped his team along and a winning goal from Logan Madden ensured his name on the scoresheet for the weekend. Another few weeks of games to go before the summer break, keep up the hard work boys.

PGBC 2004s Orange

The boys were up against St Andrews at Notre Dame on Saturday, both teams started well before St Andys took an early lead, credit to the Port though who dug deep and passed the ball well before equalizing through Peter Ingram, the goal coming directly from a corner. After this the boys continued to press and won more corners, one of them being finished by young Sean Doherty who used his head to put the Port ahead. Marc McDonald and Niall Brady then added to the Ports tally, Marc with a fine strike and Niall scoring an “absolute peach”. With the team performing well the boys were moved into unnatural positions giving St Andys a chance to get back in the game, but the Port held out until the final whistle with Aaron Keyes pulling of a magnificent save right at the death.

Thanks to team sponsor Marcus Humphrey House.

PGBC 2004s Black

The boys travelled to Ferguslie sports complex at the weekend to take on St Mirren YFC, they started the match with a fantastic attitude that would continue throughout, taking the game straight to St Mirren with some good early possession. Great passing meant they took a well deserved lead but only a few minutes later St Mirren found themselves level. The Port boys though didn't let this affect their game and quickly found themselves back in front, all boys working extremely hard as a team getting both forwards linking up and also getting back helping out with defensive duties dealing with anything the Paisley side had to offer. A fantastic effort by every boy in very hot conditions saw a few more first half goals added and the Port boys leading very comfortably at half time. The second half continued at the same pace the first half had ended with some fantastic passing moves resulting in great chances for the boys, credit to St Mirren who had to defend very well to stop the boys increasing they're tally, but also to the Port boys for getting back when required when they could have took the foot of the gas thinking the job was done. Some really important stops from the Port goalie Ewen McDougall everytime he was called into action, all in all a great team performance with every boy doing they're job very well on the day. Goalscorers McLaughlin, Creen, Emmerson, Weston.

Players and coaches thank B. Buick and sons (bodyshop) for continued support.

PGBC 2001s

Port played host to Renfrew Vics on Saturday morning in the Community Stadium, Parklea. In a very evenly match game, both teams were playing some nice passing football. Renfrew managed to take the lead when a wicked deflection saw the ball fly over the helpless Port keeper Lewis McClure. A good passing move by Port saw Jack Anderson force the Renfrew keeper into a good save. Jack did manage to pull Port level after a nice ball through by Ross Devine. On the stroke of half time Port had keeper Lewis McClure to thank for a nice save to go in level. Renfrew scored early in the second half after some poor defending by Port. Jack Anderson almost pulled Port level again after some good work from Ross McKay but the final shot was cleared off the line by a Renfrew defender. Declan Adair won Port a penalty cutting inside the box and Brandon McCabe made no mistake by crashing the ball past the keeper. Port almost took the lead when Jack Anderson found himself one on one with the keeper but it was saved well. Lewis McClure then pulled off another good save but it fell to an oncoming Renfrew Striker to tap the ball home. Brandon McCabe then cleared one off the line for Port but right at the death Renfrew won a penalty and scored again to see the game out.
