Dalkeith CYP
Currie Star
Under 13's Ken Ritchie Cup SF
Dalkeith CYP entertained Currie Star for the second time in 5 days this time in the Ken Ritchie Cup. Dalkeith where desperate to get revenge for the 1-0 cup final defeat on Friday and they started the game the brighter with striker Owen Winnik making and scoring his third goal in two games, following good work in the midfield from Callum Beilski. Currie where looking to get a foothold back in the game with the ever impressive Russell Cairns and Andrew Lickley bringing out the best in the Dalkeith back four but it was Dalkeith who grabbed a second somewhat against the run of play when Jay Murray turned and tricked his way past three Currie defenders and finished well.

Dalkeith midfield struggled to get into the second half with the Currie attacks becoming more and more potent and it was only a matter of time before Currie scored and scored they did following two uncharacteristic mistakes by the Dalkeith defenders, which took the game to extra time. From then there was only one team going to win - Dalkeith lost one of their best defenders Robert Cole to injury followed quickly by Jay Murray and Taylor Roggan, due to injuries and having players that were cup-tied Dalkeith had no subs and were down to nine men, Currie took full advantage and easily won the tie 4-2 after extra time.

Dalkeith can take heart from the fact they matched Currie for large periods of this game they will go into next week’s league decider against Currie knowing that all they have to do is avoid defeat and the league championship with be theirs.

Full Time: Dalkeith CYP 2-4 Currie Star (AET)
